Addis Ababa, May 17, 2006 - The Ethiopian Democratic Unity Party-Medhin (EDUP-Medhin) denounced terrorist acts that took place on public transport vehicles, at recreation centres as well as public places.
In a release sent to ENA yesterday, EDUP-Medhin executive committee expressed its deep concern over deliberate and planned acts of terrorism targeted at innocent civilians.
The terrorist act has been claiming lives of innocent civilians and public property, the release said.
The party said the terrorist acts have been worsening from time to time and put the peaceful lives of the public at risk.
EDUP-Medhin denounces the terrorist acts that targeted innocent civilians to advance political whims, the release said.
Similarly, associations of taxi owners operating in Addis Ababa strongly condemned the recent terrorist acts that occurred in different parts of the metropolis.
In a statement sent to ENA, the Segon, Nib, and Selam taxi owners’ associations and a self-help association of the Addis Ababa taxi rank controllers said yesterday that the explosions on 13 May 2006 on public transport vehicles are villainous acts.
The statement said the associations strongly condemn the terrorist acts and would struggle toward maintaining the peace and stability of the public.
The associations also urged the people who are engaged in the transport sector to be vigilant to keep the peace of their working environments.
