Addis Ababa, February 26, 2007 (Addis Ababa) - The Addis Ababa University in collaboration with the Ethiopian Telecommunications and Information College would commence offering education in information and communication technology program in doctorate degree as of next academic year.
The effort of expanding information technology has put Ethiopia in better position compared with developing countries, Transport and communication Minister, Jundien Sado said.
Speaking at a workshop to discuss the curriculum of the program here on Monday, Ethiopian Telecommunications and Information College dean, Dr. Nega Alemayehu said the doctorate program would be begun with training of 25 students.
Jundien Sado, on his part said Ethiopia has already undertaken development of broad band, multi media and internet and optic fiber which have become bases in the effort of expanding information and communication technology across the nation.
The Minster said the development of the sector would further enhance socio-economic development.
The development of the sector, in particular, plays vital role to deliver efficient service to the public and realize good governance, he added.
