Six government delegations would pay visits to various African countries as of Sunday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
The delegations would deliver messages of Prime Minister Meles Zenawi to his African counterparts and discuss prevailing situation in Somalia with the officials of the respective countries.
It said the delegation to be headed by Foreign Affairs Minister Seyoum Mesfin would leave for Libya, Algeria and Nigeria while the delegation to be led by Tourism Minister Mahmoud Dirir would go to Congo and Angola.
The delegation to be led over by Foreign Affairs State Minister Dr. Tekeda Alemu would pay a visit to South Africa and Tanzania.
The delegation to be headed by Culture Tourism State Minister Mahmoud Gaas
would leave for Ghana and Burkina Faso while that of the delegation to be
led by Ambassador Berhane Gebre-kirstos for Senegal and Tunisia.
The delegation to be headed over by Ambassador Konjit Sene-giorgis would deliver
messages of Meles to leaders of Mali and Gabon.
The delegations would request the leaders and officials of African countries to extend necessary support to make use of the good opportunity that would ensure peace and security in Somalia.
The leaders of African countries are expected to give a positive response in this regard.
