MAKALLE – The 1,428th anniversary of the arrival of Seid Ahmed Nejash to the historical town of Negash was observed Tuesday in the presence of over 20,000 Muslims.
Speaking at the ceremony, Tigray State Islamic Affairs Executive Committee Member, Haji Mohammed Abdela said we should be proud of the anniversary as it witnesses the hospitality of Ethiopia and the equality and tolerance of all religions in the country.
He further said that the anniversary also shows that the followers of Islam have religious freedom more than ever. Haji Mohammed urged Muslims to exert efforts to register economic growth by safeguarding the unity and stability of the country.
Tigray State Deputy Chief Abadi Zemo said on his part the historic town of Nejash is a living witnesses to the enduring tolerance and equality among religions in the county.
Accordingly, the community should join the struggle against anti-peace forces which aspire to undermine the development of the country and are also striving hard to divide the people under the guise of religion, Abadi added.
