Addis Ababa, December 4, 2007 (Addis Ababa) - The House of Peoples Representatives (HPR) on Tuesday deliberated and passed decisions on the number of Seats for the Addis Ababa City and the Dire Dawa Town Administrative Councils.
In its 8th regular meeting, the HPR endorsed the recommended number of Seats for the various councils in Addis Ababa City and that of the Dire Dawa Town Administrative Council.
Hence, HPR decided that the number of Seats for Addis Ababa City Council to be 139, as it was earlier, with an average of 30 representatives from each locality of the different Sub-cities of the metropolis. The number of Seats for local administrative councils in Addis Ababa City is decided to be 300.
Similarly, HPR decided the number of Seats for Dire Dawa Town Administrative Council to be 189.
The HPR also conferred and endorsed the minutes of its 4th and 5th regular meetings. A congratulatory message sent from the South African Parliament in connection with the new Ethiopian millennium was read to the house.
