Addis Ababa, May 27, 2007 (Addis Ababa) - The Ethiopian Peoples' Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) said it has been exerting utmost efforts to make Ethiopia one of the middle-income countries within the first two decades of the new Ethiopian millennium through executing ongoing development endeavors successfully.
In its statement issued in connection with the 16th anniversary of May 28, EPRDF said it is ready more than ever to ensure speedy economic growth across the nation.
The front is also ready to realize developed democratic culture, good-governance, and to ensure dependable peace and stability in Ethiopia as of the upcoming Ethiopian millennium through creating favorable conditions, clear understanding, and establishing committed government political party.
EPRDF has more or less fulfilled aforementioned preconditions in the country after the downfall of Derg regime through coordinating the peoples' struggle, according to the statement.
The nation has registered an average of 6 percent annual economic growth during the first ten years following the downfall the former regime and achieved over 10 percent national economic growth annually for four consecutive years after the reform.

Activities are in progress to electrify 50 percent of rural areas of the nation as per the five-year plan for accelerated and sustained development to end poverty (PASDEP), the statement said.
The government is undertaking various activities to ensure basic education access to all citizens as per the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
EPRDF have enabled some 83,000 children get access to education service and increased the number of state-owed universities to 23 during the last 16 years.
Construction of health service facilities is well in progress both in rural and urban areas and training for health professionals is also underway.
