(SomaliNet) The Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi has later Tuesday returned home after half a day surprise visit to the Somalia capital Mogadishu for talks with Somali’s top government officials over the security deterioration in the region.
Today marks Premier Zenawi's first visit to Somalia since his forces defeated the Islamic Courts Union late last year and helped Somalia’s transitional government take control of whole the horn of African country.
During the visit by the Ethiopian prime minister in Mogadishu, security was tightened extraordinarily with heavily armed Ethiopian forces deployed in the main roads of the capital to prevent violence.
Sources close to the presidential compound say that Zenawi’s visit in Mogadishu was also to boost the spirit and moral of the Ethiopian troops in Somalia as nearly daily attacks and bombings rage in the capital.
