Addis Ababa, December 11 (WIC) - Addis International Catering, MIDROC’s sister company has launched providing catering service to flights coming to Addis Abeba Bole International Airport.
The facility which is the first ever to eastern Africa region is believed to support the stride Ethiopia is showing in the aviation industry.
Addis International Catering Deputy General Manager, Hamish Ledingham, during a visit reporters paid to the facility on Thursday, said the facility has begun providing catering service to KLM Royal, a Dutch Airliner.
The Company has already entered to a three year agreement with KLM Royal.
Established with 25 million birr capital in the compounds of the Addis Ababa Bole International, the flight kitchen is fitted with latest equipment, using environmentally friendly technologies.
The Company that currently has the capacity of preparing 15,000 meals per day it is making connections to provide service for the Ethiopian Airlines, Emirates, Lufthansa, British Airways and other international airlines.
The company was confirmed met the strict and highest hygiene standards as dictated by the IATA Catering Quality Assurance and has been certified by the world known audit firm, MEDINA Quality Assurance Services.
Addis International Catering Executive Project Coordinator, Nebiyu Samuel also said that the Company has plans to expand its service through time, adding that it would play remarkable role in bringing hard currency to the country.
The Company has so far created jobs for 200 Ethiopians.
As the aviation industry continues to grow year on year, provision of safe food to airline passengers is now a multi-billion dollar industry worldwide.
