The police recently apprehended here in Addis Ababa the manager of the Sheraton and Nani building projects, being undertaken by Midroc Construction, in connection with allegedly stolen goods estimated worth 2.5 million birr, sources told The Reporter.
The allegedly stolen materials, which include metal panels, electrodes and cables, were later discovered in a shop in the Merkato area. The police, however, are searching for the buyer who happened to disappear.
The goods were withdrawn from the Sheraton project warehouse located around a locality commonly known as Sar Bet. Two storekeepers working at the warehouse have also been put under police custody in connection with the incident while two drivers who were allegedly transporting the items are still at large.
The suspects were yesterday brought before the Addis Ababa City First Instance Court, where the police requested additional ten days to complete the investigation into the alleged crime. Accordingly, the court granted the police an additional ten days and remanded the suspects into custody.
